Abstract
1305299 Cooling enclosed spaces MALAKER CORP 13 Aug 1970 [4 Feb 1970] 39121/70 Headings F4H and F4U A refrigeration system for cooling an enclosed space comprises a Stirling or modified Stirling cycle engine 10 having an electric motor drive 11, a vapour accumulator 18, the heat-conductive bottom 19 of which is in thermal contact with the head 17 of the engine 10, and a tube array 21 consisting of outer tube 22 and inner concentric tube 23 having an annular capillary passage 24 for liquid refrigerant therebetween. In operation, liquefied refrigerant flows from the bottom of accumulator 18, through annular space 24, and vaporizes during the cooling of the enclosed space, such as a truck or trailer. The vapour returns through the inner space 26 of inner tube 23, back to the accumulator 18 and through tapered tubular openings 32 for liquefaction by contact with the conductive bottom 19 of the accumulator. The inner tube 23, formed of copper or aluminium, may be perforated through which holes the vapours may return.
