Abstract
1304598 Comminuting apparatus F W NETTE 22 May 1970 [24 May 1969] 24842/70 Heading B2A A comminuting apparatus comprises an upright container containing arrays 4 of hammers 14K and anvils 15, Fig. 1, the hammers being movable in horizontal planes against the anvils by a motor drive, preferably by an outof-balance motor arrangement, 37, 38, Fig. 2. The hammers are each arranged above support elements 22, 23 and below a locating element 24 which run in, e.g. ball bearings (25, 26), Fig. 3, not shown. At each end of a bank 14 of hammers 14K are spaced vertical bearing and locating members 29..32, also mounted in low friction bearings. In operation, material is supplied via a feed cone 4, grid 6 and deflectors 7..9, is ground between the arrays of hammers and anvils, which are arranged in zones 10..13 and may be extracted at 40, by a fan not shown, or it may pass through the further zones 12, 13 for further reduction. Vibrations of the container are damped by rubber buffers 41..44. In further embodiments, hammers may be coupled together by cotter pins to increase the impact weight, and more milling zones may be provided.
