Abstract
1303414 Preparation of batches NIPPON GLASS CHEMICAL CO Ltd 6 May 1971 [6 May 1970] 13517/71 Heading C1M A glass batch containing boric acid for use in the manufacture of an alkali-free glass is pelletized with a mixture of water and a polyhydric alcohol and then dried at a temperature in the range 120‹ to 400‹ C. The alcohol may be glycerine, ethylene glycol, sucrose or manitol. The amount of polyhydric alcohol used is in the range 0À5 to 3% and the amount of water in the range 15 to 25% by weight of the total dry batch. The dry batch contains from 7 to 10% by weight of boric acid.
