Abstract
1303083 Inverting TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Ltd 22 April 1970 19304/70 Heading H2F An inverter comprises a transformer T1 having a centre-tapped primary the ends of which are alternately connected to one side of a D.C. supply by means of thyristors SCR1, SCR2 via an inductor L1, means for applying simultaneous triggering pulses to the gates of both SCR1, SCR2 and independent cross capacitive connections C5, C6 between the anode of each SCR and the gate of the other SCR. As described, the D.C. supply is obtained by rectifying at B1, A.C. at 1, 2 and smoothing by L2, L3, C7, C8. Simultaneous triggering pulses for the SCR's are obtained from a unijunction transistor oscillator VT1 having frequency adjustable by VR1 and fed via diodes D1, D2 to the gates of the SCR's. Commutation is normally effected by capacitor C4, but at low frequency operation, this may be ineffective and must be augmented by the pulses passed by the cross-coupling capacitors C5, C6.
