Abstract
1303051 Stopping pipes MERCOL DESCALING CO Ltd 9 June 1970 [9 July 1969] 34530/69 Headings F2N and N1B4 A pipe stopper comprises a resilient sheath surrounding a spherical core and inflatable by the insertion of fluid between the core and the sheath. A hollow stem, inside the spherical core and anchored by a metal disc to the sheath, supplies the fluid through a non-return valve. The core, with the stem inside, is made by pouring cellular urethane into a two part spherical mould of thin metal. The core is then held centrally inside another two part mould with a spherical inner wall spaced from the core, and natural or synthetic rubber, or urethane elastomer is poured or injected under pressure into the mould to form the sheath.
