Abstract

1302951 Printing apparatus IDENTO EQUIPMENT CO 19 March 1970 [20 March 1969] 13422/70 Heading B6C Labels L on a web W are fed intermittently between printing cylinder 20 and impression cylinder 25 by reciprocating arm 50 and rotating segments 40a, 41a and are printed on by type 22, carried on forme cylinder 20. The type 22 are inked by an interchangeable inking apparatus 12, comprising a forme roller 80, which is part of a removable inking unit 12, together with a duct roller 85 and an axially reciprocable roller 88. The duct roller 85 carries an internal supply of liquid ink, and is rotated by frictional engagement with the forme roller 80, which is itself driven by gears actuated by the drive of the printing machine. When the ink is to be changed the complete inking apparatus 12 may be removed and be replaced by another charged with a different ink. The type 22 are located in longitudinally extending slots in the forme cylinder 20, and are themselves removable.
