Abstract

1302001 Nonwoven material; treating fibres TSENTRALNOE PROEKTNO-KONSTRUKTORSKOE I TEKHNO - LOGICHESKOE BJURO MINISTERSTVA LEGKOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI LATVIISKOI SSR 22 Jan 1971 3020/71 Headings D1F and D1R A method of producing a nonwoven material from the wastes of leatherworking, fur dressing, textiles and cellulose industries comprises oiling the waste with an oiling agent, fibrillating the waste in air medium, dividing the resulting fibres into fine and coarse fractions by air floatation, mixing the fine fraction with base fibres, oiling the mixed fibres with the oiling agent, carding and lapping the oiled mixed fibres, and needle-punching the lap. The base fibres, e.g. flax or matted viscose fibre, may comprise 30 to 40% of the fibre mixture. The oiling agent may be an emulsion of a neutralised tall oil applied in an amount of 1-2% of the fibre weight. The needled lap may be strengthened by impregnating it with a binder, e.g. a latex stabilised by a neutralised tall oil. The fine fibre fraction may be obtained from the top of air floatation columns, the coarse fraction being re-cycled between the columns and fibre breakers.
