Abstract

1301382 Photoelectrophoretic separation XEROX CORP 26 Jan 1970 [28 Jan 1969] 3644/70 Divided out of 1189636 Headings H1K Electrophotosensitive pigment of a particular light sensitivity type is recovered by placing a suspension of said pigment in an insulating carrier liquid on an injecting electrode and causing migration of the pigment to a blocking electrode by exposing the suspension to sensitizing light while applying an electric field. Cyan, magenta and yellow pigments may be successively recovered from a mixture. A batch process may be used using a flat injecting electrode and a blocking electrode in the form of a roller (Fig. 1). As shown, a suspension is continuously applied as a film to a cylindrical injection electrode 20 and is contacted successively with two blocking electrode rollers 21 and 22, three fractions 39, 37 and 41 thereby being continuously produced. Remoistening of the film between the blocking electrodes is effected by spray means 35.
