1301067 Fertiliser spreaders AMAZONENWERKE H DREYER 19 April 1971 [14 April 1970] 27017/71 Heading AID A spreader 3 for use in a machine 1, 2, 3 for discharging pulverulent and granular material, comprises a conveyor, preferably screwtype 18, 21, 21' contained in casings 24, 25, 25' having outlet apertures 26 for the material, slide plates 27 having corresponding alignable openings 28 and being slidable relative to the casings for opening and closing apertures 26, and holding means e.g. holders 29 and springs 31 Fig. 2, or hinged members 41 Fig. 4, for holding the slide plates against the casings. The holding means are movable away from the casings, in Fig. 2 by moving holders 29 onto thick guide pieces 33, and in Fig. 4 by pivoting member 41 about hinge 42 after releasing elastic element 38 out of forked member 40, so that the slide plates are held clear of the casings in order to facilitate access to the outlet apertures 26. Hinged covers 37, Fig. 4 may be provided for the casings and are held down by elements 38. Preferably the conveyor is in section 18, 21, 21', these interconnected by flexible couplings 22 and the end sections 21, 21' are journalled in bearings 23 flexibly mounted on the casing and walls. On either side of a drive unit 15 are walls 16 and spaced outwardly from these are further dividing walls 58, the combination of which prevents ingress of material to the gears of units 15 since material passing through or around walls 58 falls through apertures 61 on the casing. In use material passes from hopper 1 through chutes 11 and apertures 59 into the casing. The spreader 3 may be detachable from the machine by releasing pins 7 and 57 and bolts 5 are then withdrawn. No tools are required. The side sections 14, 14' of the spreader may be folded up about central section 12 by means of pivots 13, bearings 22 being split (Fig. 5 not shown).
