Abstract

1300910 Chain tensioning devices SULZER BROS Ltd 10 Dec 1971 [5 Feb 1971] 57532/71 Heading F2Q A chain tensioning wheel 7 is rotatably mounted on arms 12 which are pivotally mounted on a fixed spindle 19 by means of a torsion spring element comprising concentric tubes 15, 16 between which are disposed four pads 17 of rubber. In a modification, shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the degree of pretensioning of the rubber pads 17 may be varied by means of a screw 35 located between extensions 31 of arms 12a and an arm 34 secured to the fixed spindle 19. In a further modification, a chain deflecting wheel 42 is rotatably mounted on the spindle 19, Fig. 5, and the chain passes through slideways 43, 44.
