Abstract

1300586 Digital/analogue converters THORN AUTOMATION Ltd 30 Dec 1969 63349/69 Heading G4H A function generator derives from a multibit binary input signal representative of an angle a multibit binary signal representative of the sine of the angle, this signal being fed to a digital/analogue converter delivering at its output of an amplitude significant A.C. speed.. As described for controlling from an M bit input signal a synchro, M-2 bits or their complement (in dependence on the state of the M-1th bit) control the state of switches 24 in a numerical sine function generator 14. The M-2 outputs of the generator are fed to switches in a ladder network, the A.C. source for which is fed either direct or via an inverter in dependence on the state of the Mth bit. The output of the ladder network is connected via an amplifier to a synchro. A signal phase displaced by M/3 from the first, and derived by adding a value of M/6 to the digital input and similarly applying it to a numerical sine function generator, ladder network and amplifier, is fed to a second input of the synchro. Preferably, a common numerical sine function generator is used for both conversions.
