Abstract

1300493 Flame glow plugs ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 27 May 1971 [26 June 1970] 17375/71 Addition to 1252231 Headings F1B and F1K In a flame glow plug for use as a starting aid for a diesel or multi-fuel internal-combustion engine, the fuel to be ignited is conducted through a coiled tube 24, is heated and leaves an end portion 28 of the tube substantially in the form of vapour and is then ignited, the coiled tube itself serving to conduct electrical current which heats and vaporizes the fuel and a separate ignition device 25 being located adjacent the coiled tube end portion for igniting the vaporized fuel. In a modification the ignition device comprises an electrically heated tube which may be located within or around the coiled tube. The ignition device and the coiled tube may be connected in series or parallel.
