Abstract

1300055 Endoscopes KEELER HOLDINGS Ltd 23 Jan 1970 [7 Feb 1969] 6760/69 Heading A5R [Also in Division G2] In an endoscope, e.g. an otoscope, the eyepiece comprises a binocular member 11 having reflecting means consisting of one pair of fixed mirrors 28, 27 divergent to the eyepieces and one pair of mirrors 32, 31 each parallel to and movable relative to their respective adjacent fixed mirror 28, 27, and a pair of eyepieces 30, 29 arranged so that a reflected image of a cavity area is visible in each eye-piece simultaneously. The binocular member 11 is mounted on the main body 10 of the instrument for rotation about the longitudinal axis of a tubular member 15 mounted on the body. The tubular member 15 is for insertion into the cavity. A lens 21 may be mounted coaxial with tubular member 15. If desired the lens 21 may be replaced by a pair of lenses, a fixed positive lens 36 (Fig. 3) and a movable negative lens 32. Lens 37 is moved by sliding a pin 39 in a helical slot 38 in the lens mount. This enables areas of the cavity to be brought into focus. A light source 22 may be provided using a battery or mains. This may be a fibre light guide.
