In a razor in which the blade is clamped on a guard c, Fig. 2, by a head-plate having a screwed stem d and pins e posing through apertures in the blade and guard, the handle h is arranged to be secured to the head-plate either in the usual position at right-angles to the blade by a screwed socket f engaging the stem d or in the same plane as the blade so that the razor can be used in the manner cf an ordinary razor, by a plate m having keyhole slots engaging grooves cut near the bases of the stem d and either of the pins c. The plate m is carried by a slotted stem k engaging a pin l arranged across a slot in a tubular portion g of the handle, so that the stem and plate can be arranged for use, as shown in Fig. 2, or telescoped within the handle, as shown in Fig. 4. The portion g is secured within the part h by the socket f. In a modification, the slots in the plate m are dispensed with, and a nut p, Fig. 4, preferably a captive nut rotatahly mounted, is used to clamp this plate to the head-plate. An aperture in the plate engages either of the pins e. The plate m may be extended and formed with an additional slot or aperture, so that both pins e may be engaged therewith. The stem k is serrated for holding purposes, and may be provided with shoulders r enabling the stem to be withdrawn easily from the handle and acting as a guard for the fingers.
