Abstract

139,936. Yearsley, H. April 28, 1919. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Limbs, artificial.-The movement of an ankle-joint, of the type comprising a block of rubber C, is limited by a special front check and rear tendon. The check comprises two side-bars D connected rigidly to the foot and carrying a cross-bar E at their upper ends. The cross-bar is encased in a brass or leather sleeve and passes through an elongated slot in the legs. The tendon comprises three members, the lower one being a U-shaped member H connected to the heel by a cross-pin, a a second comprising a chain link I, while the upper one comprises another U-shaped member G provided with bolts at each extremity on the upper side of a rubber block J faced on each side with a metal washer K.
