Abstract

1399366 Casting composite cylinder liners MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 21 Aug 1972 [7 Sept 1971] 38851/72 Heading B3F [Also in Division F1] The steel outer member 11 is formed integral with the inner cast iron cylindrical member 12 by pouring molten metal to form one of the members into contact with the already formed other member. The casting may be performed by gravity or centrifugally. The fused surfaces of the members 11, 12 may have corresponding grooves and projections, Figs. 4a to 4c (not shown). An intermediate plated layer (21), Fig. 5 (not shown), e.g. of nickel or chromium, may be provided between the members 11, 12.
