Abstract
1396794 Molybdate red and orange pigments HOECHST AG 14 July 1972 [15 July 1971] 33009/72 Heading C4A Molybdate red or orange pigments of improved fastness to SO 2 are obtained by precipitating on the pigment hydrated oxides of antimony and silicon, and calcium fluoride. Any water-soluble compounds containing the ions antimony, silicon, calcium and fluoride may be used, particularly the mixture of antimony trifluoride, sodium silicate and calcium chloride. The antimony and silicon compounds may be precipitated simultaneously, or successively in either order, the pH being adjusted after each addition to precipitate the hydrated oxide, followed by the calcium fluoride, after which the pH is adjusted to 6-8. The product should contain 1-5% by wt. each of antimony and silicon compounds calculated as Sb 2 O 3 and SiO 2 , and 1-6% calcium fluoride, as CaO. The pigments may also contain a precipitate of one or more of the hydroxides or oxyhydrates of aluminium or titanium, or salts of rare-earth metals. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,137,330.
