1395680 Boots &c SEMPERIT AG 18 Sept 1973 [22 Sept 1972] 43623/73 Heading A3B A sole for an article of footwear is made of at least two elastic materials 1, 2 differing with respect to their Shore-hardness, said materials extending to the tread surface of the sole in a predetermined pattern, and said tread surface being provided with a pattern of depressions extending over both or all said materials. As described the material 1 is the softer and has a Shore-A hardness of 65‹ and the material 2 has a hardness of 75‹. Suitable materials are rubber, polyvinyl chloride and polyurethane, either expanded or compact, and the sole is preferably moulded, either separately or directly onto the shoe upper. The tread surface is provided with a set of concentrically arranged circular depressions 3 arranged about centre 6, and a second set of circular depressions 4 arranged about centre 7. Radial depressions 5 may also be provided. A peripheral strip 8 extends around the edge of the sole.
