1395330 Detergents containing enzymes UNILEVER Ltd 20 Dec 1972 [21 Dec 1971] 59296/71 Heading C5D [Also in Division C3] Amylolytic-enzyme-containing granules with improved storage ability contain an imino acid or a mixture of amino acids as stabilizer therefor. The enzymes may be of vegetable or animal origin or may be produced by microorganisms, e.g. B. subtilis. The amino acids are preferably α-amino acids such as glycine, alanine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, proline, hydroxyproline, serine, threonine, cysteine, cystine, methionine, thrytophane, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, arginine, lysine, histidine and ornithine; also mixtures produced by the hydrolysis of proteins. The granules may be prepared by binding the enzyme and amino acid to (A) a hydratable carrier such as sodium tripolyphosphate using an aqueous slurry of the enzyme and amino acid as in Specification 1,151,748 or (B) a carrier using a liquid or liquefied nonionic surfactant as conglutination agent. The enzyme and amino acid may be in the form of an intimate mixture obtained by precipitation from, absorption from, evaporation of, or spray drying of, a mother liquor containing said components. The amylolyticenzyme-containing granules may be incorporated in detergent compositions containing organic surfactants and water-soluble inorganic and/or organic builder salts.
