Abstract

1394835 Polyamide filaments BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 19 Sept 1972 [20 Sept 1971] 43258/72 Heading B5B Filaments of synthetic linear polyamides containing 2-15% by weight of an alkoxylated polyamide, preferably 4 to 10%, are made by subjecting a molten mixture thereof to thorough mixing so that the alkoxylated polyamide is present in the finished filaments in the form of particles having a diameter of not more than 0À1 Á, and filtering the molten mixture at least once through a filter having a pore width of not more than 20 Á, after which the mixture, optionally after being converted to chip form, is melt spun, the molten mixture being maintained in the molten state for a total period of not more than 30 minutes, and without the melt temperature exceeding 290‹ C. Mixing and filtration may be effected in the spinning apparatus by using a spinning extruder capable of providing thorough mixing and placing a filter immediately downstream of the spinning nozzle. The spun filament may be drawn at ratios of 1 : 2À5 to 1 : 45. Filaments so made have a greatly reduced tendency to build up electrostatic charges.
