Abstract
1394705 Cartridges AAI CORP 13 Dec 1972 [30 Dec 1971] 57550/72 Heading F3A A cartridge comprises a projectile 41, a casing 21, a propellant charge 51, and a plasticallydeformable cup 35 integral with a sleeve 33. When the propellant charge is ignited, the pressure of the propellant gases causes the sleeve 33 to roll round a bend 34 until the cup 35 assumes the position shown in broken lines. At this point, the propellant gases escape into the main chamber 24 of the casing and eject the projectile. The integral sleeve 33 and cup 35 drop away from the projectile in flight.
