Abstract
1394689 Melamine coated polyester films OZALID GROUP HOLDINGS Ltd and R LANDAU 31 Oct 1973 [20 Sept 1972] 43448/ 72 Heading B2E [Also in Division G2] A self-supporting polyester film which has not been pretreated, has an adherent resinous coating containing, as a binder, a curable urea formaldehyde or melamine formaldehyde resin and resorcinol or a resorcinol derivative selected from diresorcinol and alkyl esters of carboxylic acids of resorcinol or diresorcinol, the resorcinol or resorcinol derivative being present in an amount of 20% by weight of the binder. Fillers such as kaolin, clay, silica, TiO 2 , ZnO and CaCO 3 may be present. There may also be present a light sensitive diazonium compound (2, 5 dibutoxy-4-morpholino benzene diazonium fluoroborate) a coupler and an acid inhibitor, in which case there must be present polyvinyl acetate, optionally carboxylated or partially hydrolised, to promote permeation of ammonium vapour which develops the diazonium compound.
