Abstract
1394519 Mixing liquids E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 14 Nov 1973 [15 Nov 1972] 52881/73 Heading B1C A device for mixing a plurality of flowing liquids of highly differing viscosities comprises a hollow cylindrical tube 10 and a plurality of curved mixing elements 20, 21, 29, 30, positioned therein, the elements are disposed in spaced groups, and a foraminous structure, cylindrical 'screens 34 as shown, being positioned between at least two of the spaced groups of elements, said structure extending to the walls of said tube, whereby, in use liquids are mixed by repeated divisions and recombinations and are required to pass through the foraminous structure. The low viscosity liquid A is fed into a premixing section 12 and high viscosity liquid B is introduced through flow distributor 16 having several orifices. Normally the plurality of liquids consists of two liquids having a viscosity ratio of at least 1000:1.
