Abstract

1394476 Microscope slide C D ELKINS 9 April 1973 [21 April 1972] 16914/73 Heading G2J A slide for liquid specimens comprises a thin flat plate 12, Fig. 1 with a substantially thin flat pocket 11, Figs 1, 4 as the examination chamber with its open side facing plate edge 17, the pocket 11 lying between generally parallel side walls 14, 15, one of which 15 extends to the edge 17 to form a liquid specimen support surface 19 between edge walls 19 whereby the liquid is drawn into the pocket 11 by surface tension, this action being facilitated by the curved bottom 18 of the pocket. A transparent side wall 14 may have grid lines marked thereon. The slide may be of laminar construction, or of moulded plastics in which case the pocket side walls may be slightly divergent.
