Abstract

1393487 Tyre wear measuring apparatus MOSKOVSKY SHINNY ZAVOD 11 Sept 1973 42559/73 Heading G1M An optical viewer 7 and a tyre tread depth indicator 6 are mounted on a carrier 5 rotatable about an axis c-c so that a predetermined mark on the tyre may be viewed through 7 at various stages of tyre wear and then tread depth measurements taken at another fixed and predetermined print by the gauge 6. The carrier 5 is carried by a yoke 4 supported from the wheel centre by telescopic struts 8, 9. In operation the device is mounted at the centre of a wheel and the yoke 4 rotated around the wheel by a worm 13 until the first predetermined mark is sighted beneath the viewer 7. The tread depth is then measured by operating 6. Measurements in other positions may be made by further turning the worm 13 and by operating a screw 15 to traverse the yoke 4 across the width of the tyre.
