Abstract

1393303 Hollow Charges SCHLUMBERGER INLAND SERVICES Inc 23 June 1972 [23 June 1971] 29486/72 Heading F3A A shaped charge 16 for end-loading into a tubular carrier of a well perforator and for positioning therein behind a threaded plug 15 closing a lateral port of the carrier, comprises an element 27 formed with projections 30 which co-operate with a cam surface 31 to move the element forwardly as it is rotated. This enables an annular spacer 29 to be urged tightly against the element 27 as the plug 15 is screwed into its lateral port, thereby securing the charge in alignment with the plug. A port 28 in the element 27 is provided with lugs which are engageable by a rotational tool inserted through the lateral parts in the carrier. The shaped charge comprises metal and plastics casing parts 22 and 23, respectively.
