Abstract
1392843 Hot gas engines; reciprocating compressors PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKENNV 1 May 1972 [4 May 1971] 20102/72 Headings F1N and F1S [Also in Division F4] A hot gas engine comprises a buffer space 10 in which an average pressure prevails which is substantially equal to the average pressure in the working space 4 and a compressor 17, 19 for forcing working medium into a high-pressure working medium storage container, (not shown). The compressor is arranged inside the buffer space and comprises a compression member 17 which is connected to a piston member 2 associated with the buffer space or to an associated piston-rod 14. The inlet valve of the compressor is formed by a piston ring 20, 21 which is arranged in a groove 22, 23 in the wall of the compression member or the wall of the compression space. A permanent communication is provided between the compression space and a space in the groove between the inner periphery of the piston ring and the opposing wall of the groove. In a modification the compression space is arranged between the pistonrod and a cylindrical housing surrounding the rod. Two axially spaced piston rings serve as the inlet valves for the compression space.
