Abstract
1392692 Pt-group oxides DIAMOND SHAMROCK CORP 22 June 1973 [23 June 1972] 29884/73 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C7 and B2] A solid solution of at least two Pt group metal oxides is made by precipitating, e.g. with KOH, the hydrated oxides from a mixed acidic solution of the metal salts, e.g. chlorides, followed by drying to remove water of hydration and heating at, e.g. 300-900 C. to crystallize and stabilize the product, which may have a particle size below 0À1 micron. The metals specified are various binary combinations of Ir, Ru, Rh and Pd. The oxides are useful electrode coatings (see Division C7).
