Abstract
1392684 Colour cathode-ray tubes PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 Sept 1973 [6 Sept 1972] 41370/73 Heading H1D In a method of manufacturing a colour cathode-ray tube a photosensitive layer 3 on a faceplate 2 is exposed to a scanning light beam 6 through the apertures 5 in a shadow mask 4 and the position of the effective source of the scanning light beam 6 is physically moved during the exposure, the movement being dependent on the area of the screen being exposed at the time. The beam 6 can be produced by the reflection of a primary light beam 7 at a mirror 8 which can be rotated about axis 9 and tilted about axis 10 which is perpendicular to a plane containing axis 9 and beam 6. A detailed sectional view of the optical and mechanical arrangement of device 11 is given in Fig. 2 (not shown). Light from a lamp (23) is condensed by a lens (25) and is successively reflected by mirrors (20, 17, 15) from which the primary beam 7 emerges. To permit movement of the effective source of the scanning beam, mirror (20) is rotatable about axis (21) and mirrors (17, 15) are independently rotatable about axis (18), mirror (17) being linked to mirror (20) by a telescopic conector (22). The entire support for mirrors 8 (15, 17) can be moved in perpendicular directions by slides (26, 27). Specification 1,257,933 is referred to.
