Abstract

1392133 Coke SUMITOMO METAL INDUSTRIES Ltd and KEIHAN RENTAN KOGYO CO Ltd 26 Feb 1973 [29 Feb 1972] 9423/73 Heading C5E Formed coke for blast furnaces is made by carbonizing coal briquettes wherein the total dilatation (defined) of the coal material before briquetting is not more than 27À5% and the Trommel strength (defined) of the coal briquette is not less than 92% and wherein no fusion of the coke occurs. The briquettes are made by pressure moulding a blend of 70 to 90 wt. per cent poor- or non-coking coal with up to 20 wt. per cent other carbon substance and coking coal and with up to 10 wt. per cent binder. The coking is carried out in an inclined coke oven.
