Abstract
1391927 Warp knitting machines W REINERS VERWALTUNGS-GmbH 9 Nov 1972 [12 Nov 1971 28 April 1972] 51884/72 Heading D1C A warp knitting machine has a device for incorporating unknitted weft threads which includes a pneumatically actuated projectile, guided in a tube, for drawing thread from a supply across the machine. A single tube, or several arranged in a circle and rotatable about a central axis, may be provided. In an embodiment of the latter type several tubes 11 extend between rotatable discs 38, 38'. They communicate with a central air tube 8 via sleeves 9 and tubes 10. A closefitting projectile 12 is provided in each tube and has an extension 13 carrying thread holders 14. The extension passes through a slot 28 extending the length of the tube and closed by a seal 29. The projectile is drawn along the tube 11 by applying suction at the tube 10 towards the far end of tube 11. Once the projectile has passed the tube opening it is braked by the still continuing suction. At one end the holder jaws are opened to take yarn, which is cut when the projectile reaches the other end. The thread is then placed in the needle hooks by feeders 19. In an alternate embodiment, Figure 16, a single projectile 107, entraining four yarns 111-114 is drawn along a stationary tube 125. Braking at the end of the traverse is assisted by a mechanical brake 163, 164. Insertion hooks 155-158 place the yarns on disc stores 101, 101' which carry the yarns towards the needles. The yarns are held adjacent the discs, while the projectile traverses, by levers 150.
