Abstract

1391904 Feeding bottles R J ECKHOLM 11 July 1972 [16 April 1971] 9597/71 Heading A5X [Also in Division B8] A disposable container, for containing glue or liquid medicament -or in particular for use as a feeding bottle, comprises a housing 12 having an open upper portion which is smaller than an open lower portion thereof, the upper portion being capable of having a closure secured thereto, and a collapsible bag 14 having an open upper end fixed, independently of any such closure, to the upper half of housing 12 along an uninterrupted peripheral line like containers being nestable when the bags 14 are collapsed upwards in their respective housings. A peelable seal is preferably attached over the open end of the housing and is removed prior to filling the bag. For use as a glue container a spreading nozzle may be provided, and for use as a feeding bottle a nipple 22 has a resilient base 20 applied over a bead 16, or the nipple may be attached by a cap screwed on to the upper portion of the housing. The bag may be heat sealed, or secured by adhesives, to the upper or lower surface of the upper housing portion defining the upper opening. Alternatively the bag may be integrally formed with the housing for example by moulding the housing with a flat top wall and then thermo-forming the bag out of the top wall. The bag may be formed to collapse like a bellows and may be made with a tendency to assume its collapsed condition, or its expanded condition or an intermediate condition. In a further embodiment, the open end (68) of the bag (66), Figures 9, 10 (not shown) is attached to the inside of the housing (62) about half-way up the height thereof, so that when like containers are collapsed the upper housing portion of one container enters the upwardly-collapsed bag of the container above it. Like containers may be nested with their bags lightly adhered to a seal over the upper opening of the container immediately below to draw the bag to its expanded condition when a container is taken for use. The upward taper of the housing may be smooth or in steps.
