Abstract
1391683 Ash discharge shoot JOSEF MARTIN FEUERUNGSBAU GmbH 9 June 1972 [11 June 1971] 26953/72 Heading F4B An ash discharge shoot 2 for a furnace discharges into a water filled trough 1, and one wall 3 of the shoot has a vertically movable extension 4 at the bottom. The extension 4 is guided by rollers 9 and is pivoted to cover 5 for the trough, which moves with the wall 4. A hydraulic cylinder 12 connected to an arm 6 supporting the cover 5 biases the wall 4 and cover 5 to the lower position. The nose 4a of the wall 4, normally dipping into the water in the trough 1, includes a water reservoir 21 and spray outlets 22 so that large pieces of clinkers are quenched and a seal is maintained at the bottom of the ash shoot. A strip 20 limits the downward movement of the wall 4, and a switch 23 controls the supply of water to the reservoir 21. The wall 4 may be formed in several parts across the width of a furnace, and ash is displaced from the trough 1 by a pusher 16.
