Abstract

1391536 Pliers LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS GmbH 2 Nov 1972 [27 Nov 1971 9 Sept 1972] 50604/72 Heading B4W [Also in Division H2] A tool for slitting plastics or metal cable sheathing 8 comprises arms 1, 5 pivotted in plier fashion; a wheel 6 with a friction, e.g. toothed surface on the operative end of one arm 5 and a blade 2 with a shoe 4 on the end of the other arm 1. In one shoe 4 is inserted between sheath 8 and core 9, the pliers are closed to press the wheel 6 against the sheath and the wheel is turned, e.g. by a wing arrangement 7 so as to draw the pliers along the cable, blade 2 cutting through the sheath. Wheel 6 may comprise opposed conical gears with small diameters adjacent, see Fig. 2 not shown, and the wing device 7 may be mountable on either side of the axle of wheel 6. Movable plates with marks thereon may be mounted above blade 2 to indicate the length of the slit cut.
