Abstract

1391518 Monoazo dye stuffs EASTMAN KODAK CO 28 June 1972 [30 June 1971] 30192/72 Addition to 1275603 Heading C4P New monoazo dyes of formula where R is H or alkyl; R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl; R<SP>2</SP> is H or alkyl ; X is H, halogen, alkyl alkoxy are prepared by diazotizing 2-cyano 4,6 dinitroaniline and coupling with the appropriate coupling component. Alternatively a 2-halo-4,6-dinitroaniline may be used as diazo component and after coupling the monoazo compound is treated with a metal cyanide to replace the halogen atom by CN. The dyes give deep blue shades on hydrophobic fibres, particularly polyester fibres.
