Abstract
1391391 Insulating pipe jackets ROCKWOOL AB 20 Feb 1973 [2 March 1972] 8354/73 Heading F2P An insulating pipe jacket 10 is made by winding mineral wool impregnated with a curable but initially uncured binder around a perforated core 17, blowing hot gas through the perforations 16 to cure the binder in regions 18 near to the perforations 16, removing the jacket 10 from the shell 17 to allow the uncured regions 19 to swell, so forming protrusions 11 and then subjecting the jacket to a second curing, e.g. in an oven. The binder may be a curable plastics material. The jacket may be cut along a straight generatric (12) (Fig. 5, not shown), and partially cut along a line (13) diametrically opposite to form a hinge so that the jacket may be placed around pipes of different diameters wherein the pipe may compress the protrusions 11 or merely contact them. The jacket may be held with bandages.
