Abstract
1391282 Slag making SIDERPATENTS SA 24 March 1972 [1 April 1971] 13963/72 Heading C7D A fluidifier for steelmaking slag comprises a mixture of 40-80 wt per cent of an alkali metal hyroxide and/or carbonate, e.g. NaOH, Na 2 CO 3 , KOH, K 2 CO 3 , and 20-60 wt per cent of lime, limestone, dolomite aluminous cement, bauxite or a mixture thereof. The fluidifier may be in powder or brick form, and may be added to a scorifying material, e.g. lime or limestone, to form a scorifying mixture. 5-8% of water or a chemical binding agent may be added to the fluidifier, which is suitable for electric arc, open hearth, Thomas converters and LD converters.
