Abstract

1391115 Suppressing dust IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 April 1973 [31 May 1972] 25493/72 Heading C4X [Also in Division E1] A solution for use in dust suppression is formed by dissolving in water free from surface active agent at least one water soluble polysaccharide such as natural gum or a cellulose derivative. Preferably the water contains from 0À1-1% by weight of polysaccharide and preferred polysaccharides are guar gum, karaya gum, carob seed gum or a water soluble salt of carboxymethyl cellulose. There is disclosure of the use of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose having a degree of substitution of 0À5-1À0 carboxymethyl groups per anhydroglucose unit and a viscosity such that. 1% w./v. aqueous solution has a viscosity of 50-4000 centipoises at 20‹ C.
