Abstract

1390554 Upholstered seats UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 9 March 1973 [11 April 1972] 16547/72 Heading A4M A vehicle seat comprises a hollow shell 10a-d to which is secured a cushion 12 comprising foam padding with a cover secured by adhesive and/or clips to a border frame 17, the frame 17 being secured to the shell along its forward and rearward edges by hook-shaped lugs 20 and along its side edges by releasable snap fasteners comprising pins 22 mounted on the shell and engageable by spring-loaded detents 21 mounted on the frame 17. The securing means for the cushion is normally concealed and requires distortion of the upholstery and frame to effect release so as to be vandal resistant. The back panel 10d of the shell is secured to the front panel by bolts 16 engaged with captive nuts. The shell includes means for mounting a hand rail and an upstanding, rear glass panel. The seat is mounted on a base 11 which receives heating equipment.
