Abstract

1390360 Plastic-resin compositions GUNAC Ltd J WILLIAMS and J F TAYLOR 12 May 1972 [13 May 1971] 14656/71 Heading C1H A fluid self smoothing plaster composition comprises a hemihydrate and an aqueous resin emulsion (solids, relative to plaster, at least 10%) the amount of water being either less than 35% (relative to the plaster) or such that the major part is taken up by the plaster. In a modification the resin solids content is 3-10%. Specified resins are P.V.A., P.V.C., natural latex, acrylates, and polystyrene. Accelerators and retarders, e.g. K 2 So 4 , Na citrate and alum; surfactants (sulphonates) and stabilizers (cellulose ethers and clays) can be added as can amine formaldehyde resins, granite, asbestos, cork, iron silicates, SiC, SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , NH 4 Cl and reinforcants, e.g. glass fibre and cotton scrim. Colours can be included and the use of two differently coloured compositions gives a two tone effect, and if of different set times, a raised pattern effect.
