1390167 Counterbalancing PETERS & CO Inc 17 May 1973 [18 May 1972] 23550/73 Heading B8B A dispenser for progressively dispensing units of round dishware 60 from a single stock thereof comprising a platform 12 mounted on a spring 14 and slidable within a housing 10, the housing being arranged such that the edges of a stack of plates can engage a wall of the housing and of such an interior size that a hard access opening is provided along the side of the stock to enable the first unit in a stack to be grasped even when lying below the top of the housing. The platform 12 is connected to the upper end of the spring by means of a screwthreaded adjustment means 16, 18, 20 having left and right hand threads; the member 18 can be rotated by a screwdriver via a slot 19. To prevent the member 18 from being adjusted beyond a certain limit, a flexible tether 24 is provided. In a modification, Figs. 5, 6 and 6a (not shown), the screw-threaded adjustment means are replaced by a scissors-like lever arrangement which can be locked in various adjusted positions. The housing is inclined to the vertical such that the stack of dishware rest with their adjacent edges against a rear wall 66 of the housing. In a modification, a heating unit (76), Fig. 9 (not shown), may be secured to the rear wall in order to warm the dishware by conduction. The interior face of the rear wall may be lined with a plastics material (68), Fig. 10 (not shown), to reduce wear.
