Abstract
1389609 Co and/or Ni plating HOESCH AG 28 Sept 1972 [6 Oct 1971 2 Sept 1972] 44815/72 Heading C7B A method of pre-treating steel for enamelling comprises plating with Ni and/or Co from a bath containing nitrate ions. The bath may comprise 0À5-110 g/l of nitrate ions and have a pH 1-5. The steel may be degreased and pickled before plating and washed and dried afterwards. A typical bath may be 20-100 g/l Ni or Co 0À6-135 g/l NH 4 NO 3 15- 40 g/l boric acid in H 2 SO 4 for Co and H 2 SO 4 or HCl for Ni. The current density may be 5-50 A/dm<SP>2</SP> for 5-60 sec.
