Abstract
1389303 Thermal regenerators APPARATEBAU ROTHEMHLE 17 May 1972 [18 May 1971] 23148/72 Heading F4K In a thermal regenerative air preheater of the stationary matrix, rotary hood type, in which flue gas from the final boiler flue of a steam generator flows through hoods 1, 2 which are encircled by stationary air entry and exit ducts, and wherein the axis of the regenerative matrix chamber is in alignment with the central vertical axis of the final boiler flue, the diameter D1 of the neck-end of the hood 2 at the gas exit end of the regenerator is from 0À35 to 0À5 times, and the height h<SP>11</SP> of said hood is from 0À2 to 0À3 times, the diameter D of the regenerative mass. Preferably, and as shown, the neck-ends of the hoods 1, 2 are joined to their respective main flue gas duct sections by means of short duct sections 1<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP>, which in axial length are less than 0À4 times the diameter D of the regenerative mass. In a modification, the short duct section 1<SP>1</SP> at the gas entry end of the regenerator may be omitted, and the hood end is then joined directly, using an expansion joint 3, to the main flue gas entry duct.
