Abstract
138,897. Cordier, G. Feb. 11, 1919, [Convention date]. Lace. - Relates to making lace, nets, veilings, curtains &c. on machines of the Levers or gothrougti type. The pattern is made as a single fabr i c simultaneneously with two grounds or openwork nets of different characters which are superposed but quite distinct. The threads which form the two grounds may be combined at certain parts of the lace to unite the grounds into a single fabric. Before or after finishing and trimming off the floating threads, certain parts of one or other ground may be removed. In the example shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a fine ground B is made simultaneously with a course hexagonal ground C. In making the spots in which the pattern shows on the fine ground, the two grounds are united round the edges of the spot whilst the coarse ground threads are utilized as far as possible to form the single fabric pattern D together with the fine ground threads. In making the band E, the threads of the two grounds are combined along the lines F, K and the coarse ground C is subsequently removed between these lines. In the example shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the threads of the two grounds are used to form the single-fabric pattern G, and the fine ground is removed, leaving the pattern showing on the coarse ground.
