Abstract

1388647 Knitting machines; yarn storagefeeder IRO AB 6 June 1973 [16 June 1972] 27045/73 Headings D1C and D1J A thread storage-feeder comprises a thread winding storage surface and a thread guide arranged inside the windings so that by relative movement between the support and guide windings are added to the store between the support and the existing windings. A series of spaced rollers 2 are rotatably, or stationarily supported in a frame 1. The rollers may be entrained by a belt 4 driven by a central roller 5 driven by a motor 9. A thread guide tube 6 is disposed with its mouth 6a in the loop of the belt that engages the roller 5. The tube 6 is traversed e.g. by a screw 8 having intersecting threads. Thread F is wound onto the outer surface of the driven belt; or the rotating rollers in the absence of the belt, beneath the existing windings. Thread is withdrawn from the outside of the store over a disc 18 and under fingers 19b of a brake ring. The windings are sensed by a feeler arm 15, or photoelectrically or pneumatically, and the motor 9 controlled accordingly. In a second embodiment (Figs. 3, 4 not shown) the rollers are journalled in a rotating plate (20), and carry pinions (23) which engage a fixed track (24). The belt loop encompasses a freely rotatable off-centre roller (5'). The thread guide (6') is coaxial with the plate and its mouth extends into the loop. Counter-rotation of the rollers as the plate and guide rotate ensures that the belt remains stationary.
