Abstract
1388640 Moulds A A GREENBERG 21 June 1972 [21 July 1971] 41909/74 Divided out of 1388639 Heading B5A A shakable mould assembly comprises mould halves 11, 12, a mould holder 14 and a measuring cup 13. Each mould half 11, 12 has three mutually perpendicular faces 18, 22, 29 and 21, 24, 31 which serve to locate the mould havles within the holder 14 The faces 18, 21 are provided with a co-operating tongue 27 and groove 28. The end faces 22, 24 are provided with up-standing grooved ribs 39, 41 which can engage with a flange 43 on the cup 13. To form an article 200, water is added up to the line 44 in the cup 13 which is in a position inserted to that shown, and a moulding powder comprising 7-15% sodium or potassium alginate, 8À4- 18% calcium sulphate, 0À75-3% tetrasodium pyrophosphate, pigment and filler such as diatomaceous earth, silica, magnesium carbonate and kaolin is added. The assembly is put together, shaken and inverted to fill the mouth cavity 20. The article 220 is removed in a jelly-like state and allowed to dry whereupon it shrinks and becomes rigid. The mould halves 11, 12 may be of polythene, the holder 14 may be of polystyrene and the cup may be of transparent plastics material or glass.
