Abstract

1388434 Charging photo-conductive materials FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 17 Aug 1972 [20 Aug 1971] 38514/72 Heading G2H An electro-photographic material comprising a highly insulating support 11 bearing a photoconductive insulating coating 12 is electrostatically charged by subjecting a first region of the coating to a first corona discharge 5 of one polarity while simultaneously illuminating said region with light 4, simultaneously subjecting a second region of said coating (which forms a continuation of said first region and is shielded from the illumination, e.g. by means of a plate 6) to a second corona discharge 3 of the opposite polarity to said one polarity; and causing a relative movement between said electro-photographic material and the corona discharge means in such a manner that areas of said electro-photographic material are subjected consecutively to said first corona discharge (with light irradiation) and then to said second corona discharge.
