1386965 4-Nitro-1-oxide pryidine-2- carboxamides J M D ARON-SAMUEL 29 March 1972 [29 March 1971] 8084/71 Heading C2C Novel compounds (I) and their acid addition salts in which R is hydrogen or C 1-6 alkyl, R 1 is hydrogen or C 1-6 alkyl, R 2 is (a) -(CH 2 ) n -R 3 , where n is 0 to 6 and R 3 is a 3-7 membered heterocycle optionally substituted by C 1-6 alkyl, or (b) -B-N(R 4 )R 5 where B is a C 1-6 alkylene radical, R 4 is hydrogen or C 1-6 alkyl and R 5 is C 1-6 alkyl or NR 1 R 2 form a 3-7 membered heterocycle optionally substituted by C 1-6 alkyl with the proviso that when R and R 1 are hydrogen, R 2 is not diethylaminoethyl, are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula II in which R 6 is alkyl, with an amine of Compounds of Formula I are hypotensive agents and form with a carrier a pharmaceutical composition which may be administered orally parenterally or rectally.
