Abstract

1386767 Palletizers T BEATY Jnr and A S SAMANDER 29 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 60302/71 Heading B8C An automatic palletizer system comprises means to deliver an empty pallet to a loading area 30 and means for stacking articles on the pallet in successive interlocking layers without moving the pallet. Empty pallets are fed to the area 30 by a conveyer 26 from a stack having pivoted arms with wedges to lift the remaining pallets off the bottom pallet. Filled bags are fed by a telescopic conveyer 46 to a conveyer 56 mounted in a frame 58 movable vertically andalso horizontally both towards, and parallel to, the conveyer 26. Pulley 47 of the conveyer 46 is supported on a frame 52 mounted on a bearing 43, while pulley 53 of the telescopic section 55 of the conveyer is supported on a yoke 54 mounted by a bearing 49 on the frame 58. The bags move from the conveyer 56 into a stacking head 70 rotatably mounted in the frame 58. The head has escapement panels (78, 80, Fig. 6, not shown) which can open to allow a bag to fall on to the pallet, movement of the frame 52 and rotation of the head allowing a stack of bags to be built up with the bags in one layer out of phase with bags in the layer beneath.
