Abstract

1386104 Hammers R OBERMEIER 10 March 1972 [16 March 1971] 11331/72 Heading B4C A hammer comprises a body 1 having at least one face 2, 2a to which a bearing plate 11, 12 supporting a head attachment 9, 10 is secured. The faces 2, 2a are preferably planar and square, the plates 11, 12, preferably of metal, supporting attachments 9, 10, e.g. of plastics or rubber, secured by cementing or vulcanization and defining impact surfaces 13, 14 of convex, plane or other form. The plates 11, 12 may be directly attached to the body 1 by bolts 7, 8, Fig. 1, pins 15 locking them against rotation in use, or screws (19), Fig. 3 (not shown), may enter clamping sleeves (17) in bores (16) of the body 1. Further, Fig. 4, threaded pins 21 welded to the body 1 may engage in bores of the plates 11, 12, reinforcing discs 23 being optionally provided. The attachments 9, 10 may be of generally cylindrical, truncated pyramidal or frustoconical form.
